Captain Fantastic

Deep in the forests of the Pacific Northwest, isolated from society, a devoted father (Viggo Mortensen) dedicates his life to transforming his six young children into extraordinary adults. But when a tragedy strikes the family, they are forced to leave this self-created paradise and begin a journey into the outside world that challenges his idea of what it means to be a parent and brings into question everything he's taught them.

Captain Fantastic is just that – fantastic. An original film that is a warm, touching and enlightening take on the family drama genre. Writer/Director Matt Ross has produced an earnest and quirky story that is quite simply, beautifully told.

The heart and soul of this movie is the vagabond family. And the casting is perhaps Captain Fantastic’s biggest triumph. Headed up by Mortensen, his motley crew of prodigies are utter perfection; all of the children are unbelievably talented, delivering entirely believable performances with such a truthful chemistry and maturity. It is truly impressive.

A fabulously offbeat film that challenges convention. Heartfelt and engaging, I entirely recommend Captain Fantastic as an alternative for your summer movie fix. I absolutely loved it!
